Being on hold or on a wait line after calling 911 is unacceptable. We must ensure our operations centers & emergency response times instill confidence and ensure your safety.
Safety of our constituents is also dependent upon our emergency responders being familiar with our neighborhoods and the faces of the people within them.
I do not know a single Atlantans who has been happy with the pace of delivery of our Renew Atlanta Bond, TSPLOST, nor Moving Atlanta Forward projects.
We must meet the moment of not only completing projects, however ensuring they are designed in a manner that exceeds neighborhood expectations.
2027 is the next year a public referenda is likely to be up for vote and I want your confidence that the projects proposed will be delivered on time and elevate the quality of what is provided.
Ever submit a ticket to 311 only to have it be closed, however not resolved?
Waiting years for two miles of BeltLine trail to be built?
Remember your water went out for days while the mayor was at his fund raiser in Nashville?
New sidewalk or bike lane installed, but a utility pole and fire hydrant remains smack in the middle of it?
Housing development narrowed the sidewalk and made it more difficult to get by?
A decade since a child lost their life until a safer intersection was delivered?
This is a problem and we have to do better on delivering the basics. Whether due to procurement, project management, finance department, insufficient scrutiny from zoning or design review expectations, or even legal review & approval, this is simply not good enough.
We will provide a public facing dashboard including recent and active 311 submissions and their status to monitor and improve upon recurring delivery of city services.
Similarly, city expenses and funded projects will be transparent & accessible for public review. Funded projects will include a scorecard rating of where the project stands in comparison to planned delivery, with intent to speed up timelines.
We will also encourage broader engagement of those contracted to deliver city services to ensure constituents are provided the best quality paid for by their taxes.
Too much of your tax dollars are wasted on shoddy project delivery that requires near immediate revisiting of the project recently delivered. Rather, we must build quality projects that persist.
No more quick resurfacing that leads to immediate potholes or leaves a major gap between the manhole cover and street surface, causing you to lose a tire and rim. No more simply reinstalling the same width sidewalk that existed previously when we could do better. Steel plates are not a permanent fix.
We will adopt durable, easily maintainable standards that save you money long-term by mitigating wasteful repairs and shoddy work.
